The Yosemite Environmental Living Program was started in 1976. It is a simulated experience that gives students a chance to live as people did in the mid 1800’s to the turn of the century, as well as the students getting the opportunity to address obstacles of land management of the past and present. Students will be voting in 8-9 years! They will be our decision makers.
This program aims to help prepare them for the role they will play. In the end, it gives the students a sense of pride and accomplishment, as well as a vested interest in the protection of Yosemite National Park.
Currently, the Yosemite Club at Sacred Heart School is one of fourteen classes in the western United States who is selected to participate in this program.
The Yosemite Club is offered to 4th and 5th graders at SHS who are willing to put in the extra time and effort after school to make this program a success.
